Dates to be announced
This one day course is aimed at the doctors in training. The course is designed to teach the fundamental principles about theatre set up in routine and complex laparoscopic cases. During this course we will discuss about the basic equipment requirement for these operations as well as specialist equipment required for complex and advanced procedures. It is crucial that the theatre environment should be safe not only for the patient but also for the surgeon and the team present. These aspects will be discussed in this course.
Course Fee: £200

The operating theatre environment has changed dramatically over the past ten years, with a greater number of minimally invasive and advanced procedures being performed. Theatre practitioners are now expected to take a greater role in the surgical procedures and must have a more in-depth knowledge of instrumentation and procedural steps. Surgical set-up and procedural steps for liver surgery will be covered in detail, although the core skills demonstrated are applicable to any advanced minimally invasive procedure. Practical hands-on skills will be developed with opportunity to practice in the skills lab.

In well established laparoscopic centres and units ninety percent of the surgery is performed laparoscopically. This provides the Theatre practitioners with a challenging and stimulating environment.
It is best to get to grips with these complex instruments and the principles of these complex procedures in a stable ‘operations skills laboratory’ environment in IMACS. Wide exposure to complex procedures in different specialties is offered in these courses.
