Complex groin and incisional hernias require appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding of the subject. This is an interactive meeting with expert faculty discussing innovative techniques, material and approach to these complex situations.
One session is dedicated to oral presentations, video presentations and poster session. New techniques, complex cases and studies will be encouraged.
Last date for submission is 5 September 2012. Best oral presentation, video presentation and poster will each receive a prize of £250, £200 and £150.

The advancements in groin hernia surgery have seen the evolution from traditional open hernia surgery to Laparoscopic TransAbdominal Pre Peritoneal (TAPP) hernia repair in the mid-nineties. Now Totally Extra Peritoneal (TEP) hernia repair is the gold standard. Laparoscopic hernia techniques are NICE recommended for unilateral, bilateral and recurrent hernia surgery. These approaches are not only cosmetically better than open approaches, but also allow early return to mobilisation, activity, work and heavy lifting. The recurrence rates with minimal invasive techniques are very low and post operative pain (neuralgia) is significantly lower than the open hernia operation.
